The Grove: Reveries of a Village Ghost
"The Grove sits somewhere in the centre of a triangle between the films of Patrick Keiller, Requiem for a Village and a 1960s M.R. James adaptation - a 'reverie', as its title insists, on the haunted nature of East Anglia's rural lands. The English eerie is found in the gaps between this island's over-emphasised history and that which has been suppressed - the enclosures, the labour, the class warfare that made the ruling class's landscape into its finely shorn form and were then erased from memory. The Grove seeks one ghost in particular that could stand in for them all - a seat of power, a manor house, that reveals itself from time to time, as though that source of the landscape's power and tragedy lingers in the edges waiting to reassert itself on uppity peasants." - Justin Hopper author of 'Old Weird Albion'
